Universal Access Information

Universal Access Information

This site has been constructed to meet or exceed Federal Section 508 standards as well as World Wide Web Consortium Level 1 Accessibility. In addition, special features have been added to the pages to make access via screen reader or Personal Digital Assistant ( P D A) more convenient.

Special Features

Each page begins with a set of three links to allow quick navigation.

  • "text only" takes you to a text only version of the page that is dynamically generated by a script..
  • "bypass navigation" jumps past all site and section navigation directly to the page heading and content (note that some pages include navigation links below this heading).
  • "skip to section navigation" moves you past the site wide navigation to the links relevant to the particular section you are viewing (Live, Work or Play). Note that the "Recycle Where you Play" section does not have any secondary navigation links.

In addition, footer text-links have been installed to allow you to quickly navigate between the Live, Work and Play sections, as well as jump back to the section or full navigation. For those using browsers that support the Accesskey control, this link section can be accessed by hitting "Alt-slash" and then "return (or enter)."

Text-only Page

Text only pages are produced on request by a program on the web server that removes image and table information from the page. This ensures that all information on the text-only pages is up to date with the graphic-enabled site. However, the technology is not perfect, and some formatting peculiarities are unavoidable. If a particular page is unusable in the text-only version, we encourage you to try accessing the graphic version of the page.
